Wanderrly is a mobile platform for collaborative travel experiences, one that allows users to share inspiration and plan trips together with friends. Our team at Feedel designed it, anticipating a post-Covid travel boom, to serve millennials looking to curate adventurous trips with small groups of friends.

MOBILE APP & BRAND IDENTITY

USER
STORIES

We mapped user's journeys, and we used their needs to categorize the features we should implement.
(i.e. selecting cities to travel between, exploring activities in selected cities, finding events on selected dates, etc...)

We began by translating actions into a series of flows.

WIREFRAMES

We built wireframes in two rounds. The first to map the app's architecture, and the second to add details to our proposed features.

These features then underwent another round of development to refine them to better fit the users' needs.

DESIGN SPRINT
#1: ONBOARDING

Features were designed in a series of sprints. Getting to know our users was our first step, through an onboarding process, which helps us personalize the locations & trips that populate their feed.

Although we initially wanted it to be visually-driven, we decided a list of brief text-boxes would get users directly to the home feed faster, and that's most important to us.

We avoided kept new users engaged by keeping a quick & low-commitment onboarding process.

DESIGN SPRINT
#2: CREATE A POST

Every user can post photos to add to their trips. Other users and use these posts as inspiration for their own travels.

Photos within a post can be tagged with as a restaurant, event, sight, etc. It’s collected like Pinterest and navigated like Google Maps.

DESIGN SPRINT
#3: CREATE A BOARD

A well-curated trip is reflected by a well-curated board. It’s a collection of restaurants, parties, sights, bars, and experiences mapped out for you to be your own tour guide.

It’s shared between you and your friends, so you can hit all the places you’ve seen on Instagram and TikTok that each of you have been dreaming of.

Add your own notes, share your own photos, and pull inspiration from other travelers.

DESIGN SPRINT
#4: SHARE YOUR ITENERARY WITH FRIENDS

The most important aspects of creating a post within Wanderrly  are the tagging of locations and the notes taken there.

Each photo uploaded to a board will be geo-referenced to a specific region or business so that other users' photos can be related to it.

BRAND STRATEGY

Building off of the visual of a roll of film, we’re using the rectangular shape similarities of the slots (for advancing the film) and the photo frames to carry this ‘frame’ symbolically throughout the app and branding elements.

The ‘frame’ suggests that you can use your lens to fill your film roll in your own way, as creatively as you’d like. As rectangle itself is scaled or duplicated or shifted, this symbolizes the many possibilites in which a trip can take shape.
